When the Democratic National Convention gavels to order on July 25 in Philadelphia, 124 Georgia delegates and alternates will be there.
The Democratic Party of Georgia contingent, unlike its Republican counterpart, will include nearly every major elected official the party still has, from members of Congress to leaders of the House and Senate.
Nearly all of those party leaders are pledged to support presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton, who easily defeated Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders in the state's March primary.
Georgia Democrats award delegates to any candidate with at least 15 percent of the vote. Clinton won 71 percent of the March 2 vote; Sanders took 28 percent.
Sixty-seven delegates were selected at the congressional district level. Twenty-two were elected statewide. Another 13 slots were divvied up among party leaders and elected officials. Finally, 15 "superdelegates" will be in Philadelphia. They are "party elite" who can support any candidate, although most have declared for Clinton.
