On Friday afternoon, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced that City Hall would turn purple that night in honor of Prince.

The city where Prince played his final full concerts wasn't the only one to celebrate his memory by turning buildings the color of eggplant (the King and Queen towers in Dunwoody also glowed Friday night).  New York's Empire State building, Paris' Eiffel Tower, the High Roller Ferris wheel in Las Vegas, the Chicago skyline and Target Field in Prince's home of Minnesota have all been lighted in memorium.

At the Fox Theatre, the site of Prince's final concerts on April 14 , fans have created a makeshift shrine to the musician, who died Thursday morning at the age of 57. Here are some scenes captured by AJC photographers.
