Kenny Chesney will postpone the first round of dates on his “Chillaxification Tour,” including his May 16 performance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Chesney said in a thoughtful statement that he needs to consider the well-being of his road crew, as well as his fans.

"You can't take risks without really understanding the consequences," Chesney said. "In times of uncertainty, I won't take chances with those I love. I can't imagine, as much as we love being out there playing for the fans, being able to do that through the worry our nation is experiencing."
The country superstar said he made the decision now, during tour rehearsals, to postpone his upcoming concerts so that fans traveling to his shows would have time to adjust.

In addition to the Atlanta show, six stadiums and four amphitheater dates have been postponed. The tour, also featuring Florida Georgia Line, Old Dominion and Michael Franti & Spearhead, was scheduled to launch April 18 in Arlington, Texas; postponements run through May 28 in Ohio with an expected re-start of May 30 in Pittsburgh.

The show's promoter, Messina Touring, is hopeful to find new dates later in the year and will try to announce rescheduled shows within six weeks. Refunds will also be available.
