Week 6 Softball rankings

East Coweta is riding a 17-0 record into Week 6 as it still holds the top spot in the state’s highest classification. Newnan is still in the No. 2 spot this week despite a loss 6-0 to East Coweta on Sept. 14. Lowndes overtook Parkview for the third spot in the rankings. Parkview settled at No. 4 with Grayson at No. 5. Previously ranked No. 8, Forsyth Central fell to unranked after a loss. Archer, previously No. 9, moved to No. 8. Two teams, North Gwinnett (No. 9) and Kennesaw Mountain (No. 10), moved into the rankings.

Creekview is 16-0 on the season and holds the top spot in Class AAAAAA. Evans is still a close second with a 15-2 record and a seven-game win streak moving into Week 6. Previously No. 3, Effingham County slid to sixth after a loss, making room for Mundy’s Mill to move up to third. Alexander moved up a spot to No. 4 and Pope moved to fifth. Harrison, previously ranked No. 9, moved up to No. 8 and Forest Park entered the rankings at No. 10.

Buford takes the No. 1 spot in Class AAAAA after previous No. 1 Chamblee fell to third. Arabia Mountain, which beat Chamblee on Sept. 5, moved into the No. 2 spot. Carrollton, previously fifth, moved into the No. 4 spot with Whitewater moving from No. 7 to No. 5. Locust Grove jumped up from No. 9 to No. 6. Wayne County, previously third, fell to seventh.

Northside-Columbus holds the No. 1 rank in Class AAAA with Northwest Whitfield again in second. West Laurens, previously fifth, moved up to third and is riding a 14-game win streak. As a matter of fact, the top three teams combined have not been beaten in 38 games. LaGrange, previously No. 10, moved to fifth.

Undefeated Worth County overtakes Calhoun as the No. 1-ranked team in Class AAA. The Yellow Jackets slid from No. 1 to No. 3 following a loss to Wesleyan on Saturday. Appling County is in the No. 2 spot with Pace Academy at No. 4. Previously ranked sixth, Westminster moved into the top five at fifth. East Hall, previously No. 8, moved up to sixth. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, previously unranked, moved to ninth after Bremen fell out of the Top 10. Jackson County holds the No. 10 spot.

Rockmart still holds the top spot in Class AA despite a loss to Calhoun on Saturday. Banks County slid from No. 2 to No. 3 as Pepperell moved from No. 6 to the No. 2 spot. Monticello fell to fourth this week with Berrien at fifth. Screven County, previously fourth, fell to No. 8 after two losses. Bleckley County, riding a seven-game win streak, enters the rankings at No. 6.

Wilcox County overtook Glascock County as the top team in Class A Public. Bowdon, previously No. 4, moved to No. 3 as Lanier County fell to fourth. Commerce, previously No. 7, moved into the top five at fifth. In Class A Private, Tattnall Square holds the No. 1 spot with Calvary Day overtaking the No. 2 spot as Wesleyan tumbled to No. 4 following a loss.
