Jahmyr Gibbs, a senior running back from Dalton, is the GHSF Daily state Player of the Week for his performance in last week's 62-10 victory over Ringgold.

Gibbs rushed for 420 yards and eight touchdowns - both school records - in Dalton's opening game.

"He has worked as hard in the offseason as any player that I have had in the last 27 years," Dalton coach Matt Land said. "He's worked on all phases: mental, physical, running, passing, returning. He wants to be a complete back and player."

Gibbs rushed for 1,431 yards as a junior. Gibbs has committed to Georgia Tech. He's rated the No. 10 all-purpose back nationally among seniors by 247Sports. Land said Gibbs is a well-rounded player.

"The first thing I heard him say the other night was that this is not an individual achievement but one that everyone played a part in, including offensive line, defense and special teams," Land said. "Great kid."
