The GHSA Cross Country season ended at the Carrollton Cross Country Course at Carrollton High School on Saturday with Classes AAAAAAA, AAA, AA and A-Public/Private awarding championships on the boys and girls side for team and individual performances.
Class AAAAAAA: Walton won the boys team title with a time of 1:23:51.46 to take its sixth title and first since 1986 for the Raiders. Archer's Myles Collins took the individual state title with a time of 15:46.77. On the girls' side, Hillgrove won the team title with a time of 1:40:02.87 to capture the school's first-ever title. South Forsyth's Madelynne Cadeau won the individual championship with a time of 18:46.37.
Class AAA: Westminster dominated both sides of the competition to take the team championships. On the boys' side, the Wildcats won the 27th championship with a time of 1:26:16.44. North Hall's Andrew Jones won the individual title with a time of 16:18.62. For the girls, the Wildcats won its 32nd championship, and seventh-straight (including a tie with Wesleyan in 2013) with a time of 1:43:23.84. Westminster's Mira Srinivasa won the individual championship with a time of 19:49.17.
Class AA: On the boys' side, Oglethorpe County won its first team championship with a time of 1:31:45.67. Banks County runner Griffin Stephens captured the individual crown with a time of 16:44.15. For the girls, Bleckley County won its fourth-straight, and fourth overall, team championship with a time of 1:49:44.92. Zoe Sanchez of Union County took the individual championship with a time of 20:06.82
Class A-Public: Commerce won its first boys title with a time of 1:31:42.21 led by Brandon Martin's state championship individual time of 17:02.85. Teammate Demarco Hernandez placed second with a time of 17:34.82. For the girls, ACE Charter won the team championship, its first, with a time of 2:03:51.95 to beat out Commerce. Gordon Lee runner Gracie O'Neal took the individual championship with a time of 20:14.99.
Class A-Private: Wesleyan won its 11th boys team championship and defended last year's title with a time of 1:28:02.62. Athens Academy runner Graham Blanks won the individual championship with a time of 15:33.32. For the girls, Holy Innocents' won its first team title with a time of 1:44:12.37. Erin Fagan of Landmark Christian won the individual title with a time of 19:11.83.
On Friday, Harrison won the Class AAAAAA boys competition while Cambridge finished with the girls’ title. In AAAAA, Decatur boys took the championship while the McIntosh girls grabbed the top spot. St. Pius X won both titles at Class AAAA.
