Lots of good games in AAAAAA on Friday. Here are some that caught my attention.

-Collins Hill, winless in its first three games, upset North Gwinnett 52-23 in Region 7-AAAAAA. North (2-2, 0-1) has won region titles five of the past six seasons and never lost more than one region game since 2006, Bob Sphire’s first season as head coach.

-Grayson (4-0, 2-0) routed Parkview 49-10 in a game between unbeaten teams in 8-AAAAAA. Grayson, ranked No. 2, is the clear front-runner in the region now. The Rams beat No. 4 Archer, another key region rival, last week.

-Lowndes blew out Newton 56-7. Newton had beaten Lowndes in 2013 and lost closely to the Vikings in 2014 and entered 4-0. Lowndes improved to 4-1 heading into its next game Oct. 2 against No. 1 Colquitt County (5-0).

-Walton won a key 5-AAAAAA game with a 22-19 victory over Wheeler, which took an early 12-0 lead. Walton is 5-0 overall, 3-0 in region play, with its next game Oct. 2 against third-ranked Roswell (3-0).

-Etowah (4-1, 3-0) beat county rival Woodstock (3-2, 1-2) 49-38. Six of the previous seven games between the two had been decided by seven points or less. This one wasn’t, but was still exciting, as Woodstock led 17-7 in the first half.

-South Forsyth beat North Forsyth 35-3. No surprise, but coupled with Johns Creek's 23-21 victory over Northview , South Forsyth (4-0) is now the only unbeaten team in Region 6.

-McEachern bounced back from its 9-6 defeat against Peachtree Ridge last week and defeated Lovejoy 38-0. Lovejoy is down, but still a good sign for the Indians.
