It took seven games, but a team finally scored a touchdown on Hapeville Charter’s defense. Not only that, but the Allatoona Buccaneers — ranked No. 9 in AAAAAA — beat the Hornets 23-14, scoring 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. The Hornets — ranked No. 1 in Class AA — see their win streak end at 19, along with their hopes for the first undefeated season in program history.

As noted many times here, the Hornets had allowed just three points through their first six games. They drop to 6-1 but shouldn’t see their status as AA’s No. 1 team change.

For a recap of the game, read the game coverage from my colleague Chip Saye here.

As for other ranked AA teams, weather moved a number of games.

On Saturday. No. 2 Callaway hosts Spencer at noon and Fitzgerald plays No. 10 Thomasville at 7 p.m.

On Monday, No. 6 Washington County plays Dodge County at 6 p.m.

No. 8 Brooks County's game  at Early County was cancelled and won't be made up.

Aside from Hapeville Charter, no other ranked teams lost. Below is how the ranked teams that played on Friday faired. All games played on Saturday and Monday will be covered on Tuesday.
