It’s not always the most talented teams that reach the championship game. This time, it will be.
No. 1 Grayson will play No. 2 Roswell on Saturday for the Class AAAAAAA title in the Georgia Dome.
Grayson won a title in 2011 and has knocked on the door most seasons since. Roswell was a co-champion in 2006 and the runner-up last year.
Grayson has 12 of the top 250 senior prospects in Georgia, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Roswell has 10.
Thirteen of the top 100 seniors in Georgia will be in this game.
There probably has never been a Georgia high school game with so many major Division I recruits on one field.
Roswell beat Westlake 28-0 on Friday. QB Malik Willis, a transfer from Westlake, and Roswell's defense were the difference. Willis was 14-of-22 passing for about 200 yards. Roswell intercepted Westlake four times and held the Lions to 139 yards in total offense.
Grayson beat Mill Creek 44-26. A week ago, Grayson beat Colquitt County with the run game, putting up over 350 yards on the ground with 200-yard and 100-yard rushers.
This time, QB Chase Brice (committed to Clemson) was 17-of-25 passing for 296 yards.
This will be a rematch of a 2015 semifinal, which Roswell won 30-26.
