For Atlanta drivers who see accidents on a daily basis and wonder which cities they might compare to, a new report offers an answer—not many.
Allstate Insurance Agency's annual "America's Best Drivers Report" ranks the 200 most populous U.S. cities based on driver safety. It takes into account drivers' average years between accidents and relative collision likelihood compared to the national average.
Atlanta came in at 184, placing in the top 0.1 percent of accident-prone cities and fitting between Seattle, Washington and Bridgeport, Connecticut.
According to the report, the average Atlantan goes 7.1 years between accidents and is 40 percent more likely to get in one than the national average.
With population density taken into consideration, Atlanta's rank would fall to 191. However, factoring in rain and other precipitous conditions would lift the rank to 182.
2016's 184 ranking is down five points from the year before.
