"I was literally running from set to set," while "Addicted," based on the steamy bestseller by Zane, was filming, she said. "It was a hard balance. I was going from character to character."

Her "Vampire Diaries" character Bonnie and her "Addicted" character "Diamond" don't have much in common on the surface (only one of them has supernatural powers) but share a common trait.

"I always want to play women who are empowered and making empowered choices," Kat told us.

Both Kat and Zane visited Atlanta this week to promote the movie.

"It was a wonderful experience," Zane said of filming here. "Atlanta has become a hub for productive. It's a beautiful city. It's very cost effective."

Kat said the film's small cast helped everyone on the set bond quickly.

"I definitely had a great time doing the film," she said.

"I knew about the book and I was a fan. I wanted to play a character different than the character on 'Vampire Diaries.'"
