One Pittsburgh police officer is on desk duty after posting a comment on social media that seemingly celebrated the death of rapper Jimmy Wopo.

Last week, a Facebook user said it seemed like the up-and-coming artist's death had been forgotten. According to the Post-Gazette, Officer Brian M. Martin replied, "Not me. I'm still celebrating."

The exchange, which has since been deleted, began to circulate online, and  Pittsburgh police officials later confirmed they were aware of “a Facebook post by a city officer.”

“We will hold this officer accountable for his actions,” police department spokesman Chris Togneri said in a statement Friday. “Comments that disparage victims and endanger the community and fellow officers will not be tolerated by the city of Pittsburgh.”

On Monday, the department announced that the officer had been placed on desk duty.

Wopo, whose real name was Travon Smart,  was affiliated with fellow Pittsburgh-based rapper Wiz Khalifa. His song "Elm Street" was his first breakout single in 2016. made his first high-profile appearance with his 2016

Smart died earlier this month when someone opened fire on his car. Another man, who was also in the vehicle with him, sustained injuries.
