Longtime Braves pitcher John Smoltz is teaming up with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to make the 15th annual WSB Care-A-Thon the most successful yet.

On Aug. 16, the new Hall of Famer will host his annual Atlanta Braves Celebrity Am Draw Party and Auction at the exclusive City Club of Buckhead. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes other sports celebrities, as well as a silent auction and live auction. The first 25 donors of $1,000 or more to the Care-a-Thon will receive two tickets to the party, as well as an autographed John Smoltz baseball and jersey. NAPA will match the first 25 donors to the event.
“It’s been my pleasure to support the Aflac Cancer Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for over 22 years now. It’s been something that’s been very near and dear to me for a long time. I’m honored that they’ve asked me to be a part of the WSB Care-A-Thon and hope we have a lot of listeners calling in to show their support. We all have to work together to find a cure for this terrible disease.”
The 15th annual WSB Care-a-Thon runs from 5 a.m.Monday through 6 p.m. Tuesday and airs on News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB. The campaign benefits research and programs at the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
WSB personalities Scott Slade, Clark Howard, Neal Boortz, Erick Erickson, Herman Cain, Dave Baker, Belinda Skelton, Eric Von Haessler, Mark Arum, Jamie Dupree, Walter Reeves and Sean Hannity will host the WSB Care-a-Thon, which raised more than $1.6 million for the Aflac Cancer Center in 2014.
Smoltz is excited to join the team and looks forward to meeting the supporters who will attend his event.
“We’re putting together something really special for our Care-A-Thon listeners – a limited number of John Smoltz Hall of Fame Packages that will include an autographed authentic Braves jersey and MLB baseball, along with a special invitation for two to my annual Braves Celebrity Am Draw Party and Auction," he said. "Not many players get to sign their name followed by phrase ‘HOF, 2015’ and these will be among the first items where I’ll be able to do that.”

Care-A-Thon supporters at key levels will have a chance to join other fun events. Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman will host "Freddie and Friends" luncheon to benefit the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center through the WSB Care-a-Thon. The first 100 people who make a donation of $1,000 to the Care-a-Thon will receive an invitation for them and a guest to attend the luncheon and have their photo made with Freddie and his Atlanta Braves friends. They will also receive an autographed baseball from Freddie.
