Fox 5's Lisa Rayam signed off on Friday's broadcast after more than two decades at the station. My colleague Rodney Ho, who's away at a college reunion, broke the news earlier this month that Rayam would be leaving.

She recalls getting here about the time of the 1996 Olympics, an exciting time for the city that was horrifically marred by the Centennial Park bombing.

She credits lessons from her parents with her strength and tenacity when covering challenging stories.

"Instead of asking why me, ask why not me," she said, citing an aphorism from her dad. "I want to thank Atlanta for being so kind to me."

"It has been such an honor and it has been such a privilege," she said during her goodbye broadcast, which focused heavily on her desire to spend more time with her children before they go off to college. "We need to make so many good memories.My kids are getting away from me oh so quickly."

She thanked her friends for a farewell luncheon that preceded her departure. While's signing off, she won't be going far, she said.

"I'm going to miss the daily interaction with our viewers," she said. "But I'm going to stay active in the community. I'm not saying 'goodbye,' just saying goodnight. So, sleep tight and I'll see you real soon."
