More than six months after its production shut down Atlanta streets and snarled traffic around the city, we get our first peek at the upcoming “Bad Boys for Life.”
The trailer was released Wednesday, and while the movie is set in Miami, there are plenty of Atlanta shots in the 2-minute trailer. Peachtree Street stands in for generic Miami street scenes, and around the 2-minute mark you can catch Atlantic Station in the background of the helicopter action scene.
Early in the shooting, production snarled traffic when part of Peachtree near Lenox Square mall was shut down.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence began shooting “Bad Boys for Life,” the second sequel to “Bad Boys,” in January, wrapping up in April.
The two reprise their roles as detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence), along with Joe Pantoliano returning as Capt. Howard.
The original — when Lawrence was 30 and Smith was 27 — came out in 1995 and generated $66 million, Rodney Ho reported on his AJC Radio & TV Talk blog. The 2003 sequel pulled in $138.6 million.
Lawrence is now 54, and Smith is 50.
The movie is expected to be in theaters in January.
