Todd Richards, the owner of the popular Richards Southern Fried inside Krog Street Market, is opening a new barbecue restaurant today.
Lake & Oak BBQ will be open on a pop-up basis from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at 2358 Hosea L. Williams Drive in the Hosea + 2nd development in East Lake, Richards told the AJC. The restaurant replaces another barbecue spot, Greater Good Barbecue, which closed its East Lake location late last year.
Local chef Joshua Lee is Richards’ partner in the venture, as well as the Soulful Company Restaurant Group.
The menu features meats including rib tips, St. Louis ribs, chicken, wings and brisket with sauce options Chicago Red or Carolina Mustard as well as sides such as smoked mac and cheese, collard green fried rice and Brussels sprout and cabbage slaw. Desserts include banana pudding and chocolate s’mores.
In addition to owning Richards Southern Fried, Richards also serves as the culinary director of Jackmont Hospitality, overseeing One Flew South and Chicken+Beer inside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He's also the author of the acclaimed "Soul: A Chef's Culinary Evolution in 150 Recipes."
Before helping Richards start the Soulful Company Restaurant Group, Lee serves as executive chef at Superica, Chicken + Beer and Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery.
Lake & Oak joins several other food and beverage concepts in the Hosea + 2nd development including Mix'd Up Burgers, Salaryman and Poor Hendrix.
Richards is also slated to open a barbecue restaurant in the Westview neighborhood this year.
Wing Factory has closed its location in Chamblee, What Now Atlanta reports.
The sale of the Pinewood and Bar Crema Coffee in Decatur fell through, What Now Atlanta reports, causing the concepts to close permanently.
