When you think of Jewish delis, you almost certainly think of Katz's Delicatessen, the "I'll have what she's having" spot from the famous "When Harry Met Sally" scene.
But according to a recent study done by mobile discovery app Foursquare, an Emory Point restaurant is nipping at its heels.
The General Muir was ranked number six on a list of the country's best delis, beaten out only by Katz's and delis in L.A., San Francisco, New York and Boston.
Chef Todd Ginsberg's spot has become a local favorite since opening in 2013 , offering thick-cut deli meats, some of the best burgers in the city and a brunch to be reckoned with. In fact, The General Muir makes an appearance in the AJC Spring Dining Guide: All Things Brunch, going live on April 14.
In addition to being part of a family of culinary ventures that also includes Krog Street Market food stalls Yalla and Fred's Meat and Bread , the restaurant expanded earlier this year in the form of next-door bakery TGM Bread. Helmed by Rob Alexander , who was named a 2016 James Beard Award semi-finalist for Outstanding Baker , TGM Bread is open to the public and also provides several local restaurants with bread and other baked goods.
