Newly opened butchery and market Chop Shop has made fresh meats and Georgia-made food products more accessible to Atlanta's Edgewood neighborhood. Now, its owners plan to add beer and wine to the mix.

Called The Pour House, the wine shop will make its home in a small building adjacent to Chop Shop, at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Whitefoord Avenue. Owners Rusty Bowers and Charlotte and Wes Swancy plan to sell beer and wine, including for consumption on the property’s expansive covered patio.

“It won’t be a traditional wine shop,” Bowers said.

He is tapping area beverage professionals, including Miles Macquarrie of Kimball House and Watchman's Seafood and Spirits, to help curate the beer and wine selection.

Bowers and the Swancys anticipate that the permitting process will take at least six months, which means they could be pouring adult beverages at The Pour House by year’s end.
