Stock Up: Georgia-made High Road Ice Cream and other food products to put on your shopping list

Stock Up: 3 food products to put on your shopping list

This week, we’re buzzing over locally-made ice cream, crackers and pasta. Here are the three products we’re stocking up on right now:

There's often a line not long after the Grant Park Farmer's Market opens on Sunday mornings to purchase Antonio Zenere's fresh pasta. The Athens resident -- who was raised in Italy and moved to Georgia to get his doctorate in food science -- keeps it simple when making his pastas, using white or wheat flour, semolina and eggs (which he gets from his own chickens). Zenere makes a variety of raviolis and tagliatelles, but we're partial to the squid ink bucatini, a spaghetti-style noodle that pairs will with a tomato-based sauce and whose straw-like structure makes slurping up sauce a little more fun. A bonus: If you aren't making the pasta right away, it freezes well for at least a few months.

$6 for a 1/2 pound (feeds two), available Saturdays at the Brookhaven Farmers Market, 1375 Fernwood Circle NE, Brookhaven, and Sundays at the Grant Park Farmers Market, 600 Cherokee Ave. SE, Atlanta. antzenere.wix.com/antoniosfreshpasta#!

The Marietta-based craft ice cream company makes several gourmet flavors of their regionally-sourced ice creams and sorbets, but there's no beating their boozy sweet treat made with real bourbon, sorghum and sea salt. It's a decidedly delicious vehicle for those who want an adult kick with their dessert.

$5.99 per pint, available at Whole Food Markets. highroadcraft.com

Grocery store crackers often lack the type of crispiness that stands up to a heavier salad or dip. Enter Atlanta Flats, crispy flatbread crackers made by Smyrna-based The Grateful Bread Company. The wholesale bakery makes a variety of tasty bread products, but we're especially digging the "everything" flavor (black pepper is also available), which provides a bit of a seasoned kick along with the crunch.

$5, available 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday-Friday at Grateful Bread Company, 1600 Roswell Road, Smyrna. 770-436-7173, thegratefulbreadcompany.com. Also available at select farmers markets.
