The first Atlanta location of a Nashville pizza spot will use its opening to celebrate teachers.

Ahead of its official grand opening at 10:30 a.m. May 9 at 1016 Howell Mill Road, Slim & Husky's Pizza Beeria is offering free pizza to teachers from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. May 6. RSVPs are highly recommended and attendees will be required to show their IDs at the door.

Teachers who attend will also be the first to view murals on the walls of the restaurant depicting local hip-hop artists including Goodie Mob and Big Boi.

“As a company, we are committed to focusing our social impact efforts on the education of our youth,” said Slim & Husky’s chief marketing officer Clint Gray.“We appreciate our local teachers who are devoting themselves everyday to the enrichment of our future leaders.”

Slim & Husky’s offers a selection of signature pizzas with hip hop and R&B-inspired names, including the pepperoni pie Rony, Roni, Rone named for 90s R&B group Tony! Toni! Tone!; the California Love, a veggie option that’s a nod to the Tupac song of the same name; and the new Cee No Green, a meat lover’s pizza that’s an homage to Cee Lo Green of Atlanta hip hop group Goodie Mob.

The menu also features a variety of “drizzles,” housemade sauces that include spinach basil pesto, jalapeno cilantro ranch and stoneground peach mustard; build your own pizza and salad options; and a variety of cinnamon rolls including one topped with whiskey, caramel, pecans and bacon.

Also look for more than 10 beers on tap from local breweries.

Slim & Husky’s also plans to organize community events in Atlanta similar to ones its participated in in Nashville including 12 Days of Giving, with the restaurant feeding more than 1,500 students at 12 Nashville schools and talking to them about entrepreneurship and Pizza and a Movie nights where the eatery will show old 90s movies on a big screen and serve pizza.

A second Atlanta Slim & Husky’s is under construction at 581 Metropolitan Parkway in Adair Park, with plans for a September or October opening.
