There are already loads of reasons to head to Ponce City Market this summer . Add one more: a French bakery and specialty food shop.
Saint Germain will open inside the bustling food court the first week of July. The bakery will sell French pastries and baked goods, including napoleons, eclairs, croissants and baguettes. The sweet-toothed will encounter a wide selection of macarons and chocolates, while those looking for more filling fare will be able to order French specialty sandwiches like a croque-monsieur. Among beverages, patrons can expect coffees and teas plus French sodas and bottled waters.
The bakery, named after a neighborhood in the Sixth Arrondissement of Paris, will also have a shop component. Shelves will be stocked with honey, oils and other specialty food and gift items imported from France.
The concept is a venture by Atlanta native Heather Jourdan-Gassin and the husband-and-wife team of Christine and Jean-Marc Metairie. The latter operate French restaurant Atmosphere in Morningside, where some of Saint Germain's baked goods will be prepared.
