Say goodbye to summer
Send off summer at the Optimist in West Midtown with an End of Summer Luau. The event, which will be held at the oyster bar and on the patio, will feature a Hawaiian-style pig roast with bluepoint oysters, pork sliders, peel-and-eat shrimp and tuna poke, live music and themed entertainment. A selection of Tiki-inspired cocktails, including sherry mai tais, banana brandy daiquiris and amaro coladas, will be available, plus themed beers, canned rosé and pinot grigio. MODA and Ponce City Market are teaming up with Ryan J. and Nate Mask, the award-winning, spoken-word artists who tour as “Nobody Likes Us, But We’re Here Anyway,” to curate a food-focused poetry slam and storytelling session. “Talk With Your Mouth Full: Poetry & Stories About Food” will highlight Atlanta poets and storytellers, and feature an open-mic portion, inviting guests to share their stories about food.

Eat good, do good
Wholesome Wave Georgia will celebrate 10 years of fighting food insecurity and diet-related illness with its annual Southern Chefs Potluck. Local and regional chefs will bring their favorite dishes to complement a whole hog roast from Jim N Nicks Bar-B-Q, offered alongside local farmers market merchants.
