If you like your foods living and fermented, a new metro Atlanta festival should be on your weekend to-do list.
The first Fermentation Fest will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse in Decatur, sponsored by Homestead Atlanta and Golda Kombucha . The event will feature a Makers Marketplace with fermented goods including bread, kimchi and charcuterie, demos, yoga sessions, speakers and a DIY Fermentation Station where visitors can learn how to make pickled vegetables.
In addition, visitors will be able to view live bacteria under microscopes at the Georgia Tech Science Corner, swap cultures and participate in a homebrew competition. A Fermented Beverage Garden will serve locally fermented drinks including beer, wine, cider and mead for a suggested donation of $5.
