A longtime Midtown restaurant will make way for a new Mexican concept at the end of the month.
Lazy Llama Cantina is slated to replace the 10-year-old Hobnob Neighborhood Tavern at 1551 Piedmont Ave. NE on Feb. 26. Maintaining the same ownership, Lazy Llama will serve tacos and other Mexican specialties along with a large selection of tequilas.
Owner Sean Yereman said the choice was made to switch concepts in anticipation this year's opening of a Hobnob location at nearby Atlantic Station.
“After talking to many of our valued guests, it was clear that great Mexican food was something they craved,” Yeremyan said in a prepared statement. “We are committed to growing the Hobnob brand and felt that Atlantic Station was the best place for it in this area. That gave us the opportunity to bring Lazy Llama to Midtown.”
Yeremyan tapped longtime Atlanta chef Jeffrey Gardner to consult on the menu, which will include carnitas, al pastor, braised short rib and carne asada, along with a selection of enchiladas and quesadillas.
In addition, Lazy Llama will offer $11.95 lunch specials for $11.95 and a weekend brunch menu featuring huevos rancheros, huevos divorciados, chilaquiles, horchata French toast and more.
The building will undergo several interior and exterior cosmetic touch-ups and the addition or more televisions, which will show NFL Sunday Ticket.
In addition to Lazy Llama and the forthcoming HOBNOB at Atlantic Station, Yeremyan also owns Hobnob locations in Dunwoody and Brookhaven and has plans to open Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar and a Hobnob in Forsyth's Halcyon mixed-use village in 2020.
