Could a French bakery pick a better opening day?
St. Germain, a French-inspired bakery named after an upscale Parisian neighborhood , opened its doors yesterday in Ponce City Market's Central Food Hall in time to celebrate Bastille Day.
Helmed by Christine and Jean-Marc Metairie, also the owners of Atmosphere restaurant in Morningside and business partner Heather Jourdan-Gassin, the bakery offers French pastries, specialty breads, sandwiches and French classics such as macarons and croque monsieur.
The 400 square-foot stall will also house a gourmet market offering French imported food, kitchen linens and gifts.
