Chef Eli Kirshtein has decided to close The Luminary at Krog Street Market . The final day of operations will be Friday, March 31, 2017.
"I am so proud of the staff, purveyors, and partners of The Luminary, and all we have achieved together," Kirshtein said in an announcement this morning. "The dedication, commitment, and effort everyone has put forth over the last two and half years has been truly humbling, and I couldn't be more appreciative of the community support we have received. It's becoming more and more difficult to run a successful restaurant in a city with such a high level of saturation. With costs increasing across the board, the challenges became too great for us. I always sincerely and deeply love the city of Atlanta and the people in it. Being born and raised here and having the ability to continue my career here is a dream come true. I look forward to cooking for Atlanta again - sometime soon!"

“We are sad to see The Luminary prepare for their last service later this month," said Merritt Lancaster, Principal of Paces Properties, the development, management and leasing company behind Krog Street Market. "We appreciate their tenancy over the last two and a half years and wish them the best of luck in the future. We look forward to announcing the tenant who will be taking over The Luminary space soon. It will be an excellent addition to the other three new market offerings, which include Varuni Napoli and a full-service restaurant and market stall from Castellucci Hospitality Group. We're excited about the new concepts coming to KSM. Please be on the lookout for upcoming market events this spring and summer. We look forward to seeing everyone at the market.”
When Kirshtein, a former Top Chef contestant, debuted The Luminary in August 2014 , the French-American brasserie was the first restaurant to open in Krog Street Market.
Recents closing and changes at Krog Street have included The Cockentrice in early November 2016 , and its related hot dog stand, Frankly, and butcher shop stall, The Spotted Trotter at Krog Street Market.
