After finding success selling wholesale to area restaurants and customers at farmers markets and pop-ups, Emerald City Bagels is set to open a brick-and-mortar of its own.
The operation, run by Deanna Halcrow and her daughter Jackie, will set up shop in the former Gravity Pub space at 1257 Glenwood Ave. SE in East Atlanta Village by early next year, Halcrow said.
East Atlanta "is a smart place to start out," she said, because Emerald City already has a loyal following from its pop-ups in the parking lot at Milltown Arms in Cabbagetown on Sundays and wholesale customers including Home Grown, Joe's Coffee Shop and The Earl. She also sells at the Green Market in Piedmont Park on Saturdays.
Halcrow said she envisions Emerald City starting out as a "traditional to-go bagel shop" with a variety of homemade bagels and spreads and coffee, with the possibility of moving into a more extensive breakfast and lunch program.
