Head's up, beer lovers :  One of the fastest growing craft beer bars in the region is opening its first Georgia location in Atlanta. The Brass Tap is set to open Feb. 22 at 4505 Ashford Dunwoody Road in the Park Place Shopping Center across the street from Perimeter Mall.

A Florida-based franchise, The Brass Tap boasts a wide selection of craft brews – local, regional, national and imported. The Dunwoody location, formerly occupied by Twisted Taco , will have 70 beers on tap plus another 120 in bottles. Franchisee Samy Onsi, who is operating the newest Brass Tap with business partner Mary Kate Roesch, said that thirsty patrons would find numerous Georgia beers on rotation at the pub, with tap takeovers occurring regularly.

When Brass Tap was founded in 2008, it focused on beverages, allowing patrons to bring their own food. Since then, the company has shifted to offer food prepared on-site in its kitchens. The menu at the Dunwoody unit will have a similar menu as that offered at other locations – Think: pub grub (apps, burgers, pizzas and sandwiches) with a twist. However, this site was also selected as the test spot for a lunch menu featuring health-minded dishes like a quinoa bowl, soups and a selection of wraps.

Recent renovations to the 4,400 square foot space have seen the nearly 200-seat interior brightened and the patio given a face lift. The bar will cater to sports lovers looking to watch the big game and live music is also in the works. Some Brass Tap locations also boast a cigar bar, but stogies won’t make an appearance at here, at least not initially, according to Onsi.

With 30 open units and 50 upcoming openings, The Brass Tap expects to quadruple in size in the Southeast and beyond. Onsi and Roesch are part of that growth equation as they already have plans to open additional Brass Tap spots in the area. Onsi and Roesch, both residents of Smyrna, hope to open three more area locations: in Midtown, Vinings and Brookhaven. They have targeted late 2016 or early 2017 as the launch date for the second location.
