Biltong Bar to bring its South African flair to Avalon in Alpharetta

Local restaurant set  to open its third location next year

A popular Atlanta cocktail bar is expanding OTP with its newest location.

South African restaurant group True Story Brands is slated to open the third location of Biltong Bar in Alpharetta mixed-use development in Spring 2020.

“We are truly excited to bring the Biltong Bar experience to the guests of Avalon,” Justin Anthony, owner of True Story Brands, said in a prepared statement. “As we continue to grow and expand, we felt that this was a natural next step for the Biltong Bar brand.”

Biltong Bar features an extensive in-house cocktail program; biltong, a South African aged beef jerky; and several South African-inspired small and large plates. Unique to the Avalon location will be to-go offerings will include a variety of biltong flavors offered sliced or by the slab and grab-and-go items including to-go cocktails, meats, cheeses and South African-style sauces and seasonings.

The 1,985 square-foot space, designed by Anthony’s wife, interior designer, Kelly Wolf-Anthony of Wolf Design Group, will offer counter service for to-go orders along with a large retail section featuring cured meats, cheeses and house-made spices and rubs. The space also includes a covered rooftop patio with lounge-style seating.

The Avalon Biltong Bar will join a Ponce City Market location that opened in 2016 and one in Shops Buckhead Atlanta that opened in late 2018.

In addition to Biltong Bar, Anthony also owns metro Atlanta restaurants 10 Degrees South, Yebo Beach Haus and Cape Dutch.
