Atlanta chef Todd Richards took home a big honor this weekend for his debut cookbook.

"Soul: A Chef's Culinary Evolution in 150 Recipes" won a 2019 International Association of Culinary Professionals award for Best American Cookbook over the weekend. Released last year, the book explores Richards' personal journey told through food.

Richards addressed the win in a post on his Instagram account:

Richards, who owns and operates Richards' Southern Fried in Krog Street Market, has worked for numerous hotels and restaurants including the Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and White Oak Kitchen and Cocktails. He has also partnered and consulted on airport concepts One Flew South and Chicken + Beer, as well as The Pig and The Pearl at Atlantic Station and, most recently, City Pharmacy in Covington. He's working on opening a barbecue restaurant in the Westview neighborhood this year.

Nathalie Dupree, another honoree with Atlanta ties, received a Lifetime Achievement award from the IACP. The southern food authority operated Rich's Cooking School in Atlanta for 10 years.

Other notable honorees include Christopher Kimball in the general category for his "Milk Street: Tuesday Nights"; Marti Buckley in the international category for "Basque Country: A Culinary Journey Through a Food Lover's Paradise"; and Alba Huerta in the wine, beer or spirits category for "Julep: Southern Cocktails Refashioned."
