Injuries: Hawks—DeAndre' Bembry (triceps) and Miles Plumlee are out. Cavs— LeBron James (ankle) and Isaiah Thomas (hip) are out; Cedi Osman (back) is questionable.
What to watch for: The Hawks play their second exhibition game after losing 96-90 at Miami on Sunday . The Hawks have been on the road since then as the finishing touches are put on their new practice facility. They play at Detroit on Saturday before coming home for two games at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion (Oct. 9 and Oct. 12) as Philips Arena undergoes renovation.
The Hawks starters for the Heat game were Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince, Ersan Ilyasova and Dewayne Dedmon. Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer has said he plans to try different combinations during the exhibition season.
The Cavaliers will be playing their exhibition opener without MVP candidate LeBron James and recently-acquired point guard Isaiah Thomas. Derrick Rose and Jae Crowder are expected to replace them in the lineup. Newly-signed guard Dwyane Wade also is expected to start.
