The Transportation Security Administration said this year, it expects to see one of the busiest Thanksgiving travel periods on record.
TSA expects to screen more than 25 million travelers at airport security checkpoints across the United States during the period from Friday Nov. 16 through Monday Nov. 26.
That’s up nearly 7 percent year-over-year.
The busiest days are expected to be the Sunday after Thanksgiving -- expected to be one of the 10 busiest travel days on record -- as well as the Tuesday and Wednesday before the holiday.
But there will also be crowds well before then.
Last year, the busy travel period started earlier than it had in the past, with many passengers flying the Friday before Thanksgiving instead of waiting until the day before the holiday to travel. That’s continuing this year, according to TSA.
