For travelers planning to visit family or take other trips during the holidays, the next several weeks are crunch time.

According to travel search engine Skyscanner, booking Thanksgiving flights during the week of Halloween offers "the best opportunities for savings."

Still, "when you see a deal that's cheap enough, grab it," said Channel 2 consumer advisor Clark Howard.

Howard added that travelers should also look at fare calendars to see the cheapest days to fly.

Saturday Nov. 19 is expected to be the busiest travel day for Thanksgiving, according to Skyscanner.
