A temporary Starbucks opened late last year near the domestic terminal atrium at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has gained more visibility than an old location next to the security checkpoint, and will soon move into an even more-prominent permanent spot.

The temporary Starbucks location opened in late November next to La Madeleine in the atrium, as a stop-gap measure after the Starbucks next to the main security checkpoint closed in September. The closure of shops around the main security checkpoint was to make way for construction to build expanded security queues as part of the airport's $6 billion modernization and expansion.

In the domestic terminal atrium, a permanent Starbucks will be built to replace the La Madeleine in the domestic terminal atrium in coming months, said Hartsfield-Jackson spokesman Reese McCranie.

Having a Starbucks in the high-traffic atrium allows it to do "much better than its old location," McCranie.

There are other Starbucks locations past security in the concourses, as well as a Starbucks in the international terminal. But those are not as easily accessible for those in the domestic terminal.
