Hartsfield-Jackson International is attempting to find a contractor to build a composting and recycling facility on the south side of the airport's property -- its fourth attempt at launching the project it calls Green Acres.
This time, officials say that all three of the firms that submitted proposals filled out forms incorrectly and were disqualified.
The airport is again seeking a company to lease up to 30 acres of land to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain a facility to recycle and compost airport waste and yard trimmings from the city.
The airport has been working on the project since 2012. It canceled its first contracting process to clarify documents, and its second solicitation yielded no proposals.
During the third attempt, three firms -- Randolph & Company Inc., Sun State Organics and Green Energy & Development -- earlier this year submitted proposals for the project. But the firms incorrectly completed immigration compliance forms, according to officials.
