The National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory at 6:53 a.m. on Wednesday in effect until Thursday at 1 a.m. The advisory is for Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow and Polk counties.
The NWS adds, "Snow accumulations near half an inch, with isolated amounts near one inch above 2500 ft."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes," explains the NWS. "Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."
