On Friday at 9:20 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning in effect until Saturday at 4 a.m. The warning is for McDuffie, Columbia and Richmond counties.
The NWS states to expect, "Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow and sleet accumulations up to one to two inches in the Augusta Metro. Snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch in the Columbia Metro. Ice accumulations between one tenth and two tenths of an inch with the second wave of precipitation this evening."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute," describes the NWS. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."
