Britanna Peoples, 24, of Alabama, was killed Friday morning when her vehicle was rear-ended and flipped several times on I-85 near College Park, according to authorities. Her child was also injured.

A mother was killed Friday morning when she was rear-ended on I-85 in Fulton County and her vehicle flipped multiple times, authorities said.

Britanna “Bri” Peoples, of Monroeville, Alabama, was 24 years old. Her daughter, described by the Georgia State Patrol as a small child, was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston Hospital, and her condition was not released. It was not immediately clear if a third occupant of their vehicle, a man, was injured.

The driver who hit the vehicle was believed to be impaired, according to Franka Young, a spokeswoman for the State Patrol. Charges are pending.

The GSP was notified of the crash shortly after 4:30 a.m. and investigated at the request of College Park police. All southbound lanes of I-85 were shut down for more than six hours at Old National Highway, just south of the I-285 interchange, while authorities were on the scene. The lanes reopened about 10:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation, Young said. It was not clear if the driver believed to be at fault was injured.

A funeral for Peoples is scheduled for Saturday in Monroeville.
