Wireless veteran John Dwyer has been named president of Cricket Wireless, the Atlanta-based operator of no annual contract phone services, the company said Friday.

Dwyer comes to Cricket after years at AT&T Mobile and Business Solutions and previous leadership roles at Cingular Wireless and Pacific Bell Mobile. Cricket Wireless is owned by AT&T.
“John brings a wealth of experience and an unrelenting focus on customer satisfaction to everything he does, and we’re excited to have him join the Cricket brand,” Glenn Lurie, president and CEO of AT&T Mobility, said in a statement. “He will lead a nationwide team delivering simplicity, reliability and value to millions more customers seeking premium prepaid without compromise.”
Dwyer replaces Jennifer Van Buskirk, who has been named president of AT&T’s Northeast region.
“Prepaid wireless was traditionally all about price and tradeoffs, but today’s customers are demanding more, and Cricket is in the enviable position to deliver big,” Dwyer said.
