The country’s No. 1 recruit for the 2015 class, defensive end Byron Cowart, turned a few heads when he left the state of Florida and signed with Auburn – many assumed he’d become a Florida Gator.
But now that he’s a Tiger, does he regret his college choice?
If his Tweets on Saturday are any indication, then maybe. At the very least, it’s safe to assume he’s not too happy.

Back to the assumption he would end up in Gainesville: the Gators were a top choice of Cowart’s for awhile and the school he visited most during his recruitment. He’d built a strong relationship with then-Gators coach Will Muschamp. So when Muschamp was fired from Florida and took the defensive coordinator job at Auburn, many believe that’s what persuaded Cowart to commit to the Tigers.
Who is Cowart referring to in these Tweets? It sounds like a coach called him out at practice and threw in the fact that he’s the country’s top recruit. It also seems Cowart’s stance is that he never asked to be the top recruit and considers the jab a cheap shot.
Cowart is a true freshman looking to crack the rotation and it’s expected he’d have some tough practice days as he learns the system. But when the frustration boils over to Twitter, then everyone speculates.
More than likely, Cowart and whomever he had the beef with have hugged it out and moved on.
Cowart, who is from Seffner, Fla., was rated No. 1 in the nation by Rivals.
