A man was shot early Sunday morning at Rodney Cook Sr. Park on Joseph E. Boone Boulevard in Vine City, Atlanta police said.

When officers arrived close to 2 a.m., they found a 22-year-old with gunshot wounds to the left arm and abdomen. He was not alert, police said, but was conscious and taken to a hospital.

Police believe the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Exactly four weeks earlier, on Easter Sunday, a 3-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet at the park. He was alert when taken to a hospital, officials said.

Investigators believe a fight broke out on the park’s basketball courts, and tensions escalated to gunfire.

In soundless security footage released by police, the peaceful evening quickly turned into chaos as the shooting caused people to take cover. It is not clear where exactly the shots were fired, but it appears to have originated on the courts.

The investigations into both incidents at the park are ongoing.
