Much of the rain stayed north of metro Atlanta, which saw few sprinkles Thursday afternoon.

Showers developed in North Georgia and by early afternoon, the region was getting light rain, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Earlier, the National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm warning for Hall County that ended at 4 p.m. Storm damage in Banks County left a tree in the middle of a road near a historic highway, Channel 2 reported.

Clayton County picked up light rain, too, the news station reported.

Across the rest of metro Atlanta, clouds were the only signs of the pop-up showers that could come.

“The coverage for us (is) not very great,” Nitz said. “Many areas will stay dry.”

And if areas get rain, it will be brief, he said.

By 8 p.m., things should dry out across metro Atlanta and the rest of North Georgia.

"Not a lot of rain for us today," Nitz said.
Currently, the temperature is 88 degrees in Atlanta.
