Another sign that spring is in the air: baseball.

The Atlanta Braves and their fans should have enjoyable evening weather for Friday’s exhibition game at SunTrust Park.

The temperature should be in the high 60s for the first pitch at 7:35 p.m., with the New York Yankees in town to help roll out the new stadium. There’s no chance of rain, forecasts say.

It won’t be so much fun for allergy sufferers, however.

The pollen count soared Friday to 3,559 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. That is the highest it has been all year.

Pollen has, however, been in the “extremely high” range all week.

The count was 2,924 Thursday, but it’s still shy of last year’s season high of 4,107.

As for other weather conditions, storms that hit metro Atlanta areas Thursday night and early Friday moved out quickly.

“But the winds will stay strong,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Highs are expected to drop from the 80s, where they’ve been the past few days, to 74 degrees in Atlanta.

About 5:30 p.m., temps were 72 degrees in Atlanta, 61 in Blairsville and 79 in Eatonton.
