Expect one to two inches of rain Wednesday.
Showers should move into North Georgia about 7 a.m. before making their way to the metro area about noon, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Showers are expected to leave the area by evening.
Tuesday's downpours ended a record 43-day dry streak in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2. The previous record, set in 1884, was 39 days. Before the latest round of showers, metro Atlanta had not seen measurable rainfall was Oct. 16.
A weather system had dumped between 2 and 3 inches of rain in Atlanta — the wettest single day since nearly 4 inches of rain fell on Christmas Eve, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
The rain could not have arrived at a better time. Georgia's historic drought has led to wildfires and stiff water restrictions.
But don't get your hopes up too high. One round of rain won’t end the drought or the wildfires, but it is helping.

Temperatures were 67 degrees in Atlanta, 62 in Blairsville and 67 in Griffin at 10 p.m.
Rain-related traffic
Earlier, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center's Mark Arum called the morning commute "one of the worst rush hours in recent memory."
And drivers, some who dealt with delays in excess of one hour on Ga. 400 and other metro Atlanta roadways, agreed. Crashes and delays were reported along I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road in Gwinnett County, southbound I-75 at I-675 in Henry County, on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at North Berkeley Lake Drive in Gwinnett County and on the northbound Downtown Connector at 10th Street in Atlanta.

Flooding and standing water
Flooding was also reported in by drivers on I-285 near Bouldercrest Road in DeKalb County, I-20 east of Candler Road in DeKalb County, southbound Ga. 400 past Northridge Road in north Fulton County and westbound on the I-20 ramp to Holmes Drive in Fulton.
And those heading to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport encountered flooding on the southbound I-85 ramp to Camp Creek Parkway in south Fulton County.
More than 139 people were without power at 10 p.m. Tuesday, but that was down from the 9,430 customers with outages earlier, according to Georgia Power.
