Tim Tebow had a torn oblique muscle during his MLB Showcase for scouts from the Braves and 27 other MLB teams last August, according to a Sports Illustrated report Wednesday.

The report, which is taken from a long profile on Tebow by SI's Tim Rohan, states that he suffered the injury while taking up to 300 swings a day leading up to his chance to show off his skills to Major League scouts.

Leading up to the event, Tebow tweeted this photo of him on the baseball field with his brother, Robby, and his dad, Robert.

Tebow eventually signed with the Braves’ National League East rival Mets, and is currently batting .232 with 2 home runs and 9 RBI for the Mets’ Class A team, the Columbia (S.C.) Fireflies.
