The Yellow Jackets offense drained the clock, keeping the ball for 21:35 in the first half.

Quarterback TaQuon Marshall led an 18-play drive ending with his 5-yard touchdown run.

North Carolina had an opportunity to answer in the second quarter, but had to rely on kicker Freeman Jones to put some points on the board for the Tar Heels. Jones missed the 40-yard field goal leaving the Tar Heels trailing by seven.

Georgia Tech kicker Shawn Davis added three to the Yellow Jackets lead late in the second quarter with a 21-yard field goal.

North Carolina kicker Jones tried to put the Tar Heels on the board once again before halftime, but missed the 52-yard field goal.

Heading into the locker room, Georgia Tech leads North Carolina 10-0.
