Albert Wilson is accustomed to making big plays in the Georgia Dome but this was different. This was his Chiefs against the Falcons in an NFL game on Sunday.

But it looked much the same for Wilson, who made big plays for the Chiefs like he did as a standout wide receiver and kick returner for Georgia State. Wilson ran for a 55-yard touchdown on a fake punt as the Chiefs beat the Falcons 29-28 on Sunday.

“It’s a great feeling coming back here,” Wilson said. “I spent four years playing here for Georgia State and to play as the away team in this dome was kind of strange for the first time. I had family here. Really, it wasn’t any different though as I was here with my team, my family and playing football.”

Wilson’s touchdown run came on a fourth-and-1 at Kansas City’s 45-yard line. The Chiefs had initially lined up in an offensive formation but sent out the punt team after the Falcons called a timeout.

Wilson took the direct snap and broke through a big hole in the middle of the line. He faked out Falcons return man Eric Weems at the 27 before heading for the end zone.

Wilson said the Chiefs installed the fake play this week while preparing for the Falcons.

“When I saw the call I had hesitation that I was going to go with it,” Wilson said. “My guys up front did a great job like they have been doing with all week (in practice) and we came out with a touchdown.”

Wilson also had four catches for 48 yards against the Falcons, including a 21-yard reception during a second-quarter touchdown drive.

Wilson is the most accomplished player in Georgia State’s brief football history. The native of Port St. Lucie, Fla, is the school’s career-leading scorer, averaged 148.5 yards per game and had the longest catch, run, kick return and punt return by a Panthers player.

Wilson was the first Georgia State player to be invited to the NFL’s scouting combine but he wasn’t selected in the 2014 draft. He signed a free-agent contract with the Chiefs and has 80 catches for 945 yards and four touchdowns in 38 games.
