Kirby Paul Smart was born Dec. 23, 1975 in Montgomery, Alabama. Smart graduated from Bainbridge (Ga.) High School. His HS coach was his dad, Sonny Smart. Smart played football at Georgia from 1995-98 and graduated with an undergraduate business degree in 1998. He earned a master's degree from Florida State in 2003. Georgia coach Kirby Smart will appear at SEC Media Days on Tuesday morning at the College Football Hall of Fame and the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center.

Smart will appear with three of his players, wide receiver Terry Godwin, defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter and defensive back J.R. Reed.

Smart and the Bulldogs are the defending SEC champions. In two seasons at Georgia, Smart’s record is 21-7, 11-5 in SEC games.
