WHAT HE SAID

On Bonds as a player: "(Bonds) has come a long way from his freshman year to senior year. He's always been a physical kid. He was always kind of tall and lanky and didn't really know how to use his body, but going into his senior year he put on over 20 pounds. Not like bad weight — it's dedication to the weight room. He was one of our leaders on the field last year and he did a great job. He always wanted to make sure he was doing what's right, to please the coaches and do what's best for the team. He's a very good teammate."

Why Bonds chose Tech: "When he went down to visit Georgia Tech he just really enjoy the atmosphere and just really enjoyed what was going on. He really, really connected with (Bonds' recruiter and) linebackers coach (Andy) McCollum down there and he just really felt like it was a great fit for him."

On what will separate Bonds from the four other defensive backs in Tech's 2017 signing class: "As long as he gets in the weight room and does exactly what he supposed to, which we know he will, he will get bigger and stronger and him being physical will help them stand apart from the other defensive backs." — Riverdale High coach Will Kriesky
