Georgia Tech linebacker Brant Mitchell and cornerback Lance Austin were honored by the ACC on Monday for their performances in Saturday’s 31-17 win over Virginia at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Mitchell, a sophomore from Knoxville, had a career-high 12 tackles and his first interception to earn linebacker of the week honors from the conference. It was the second consecutive week that Mitchell posted a career-high in tackles after notching 10 in the upset of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. It’s the first time Mitchell has been honored by the ACC.

Austin, a junior from Barnesville, returned an interception 24 yards for a touchdown to earn defensive back of the week honors from the conference. Austin also broke up three passes, the most by a Tech player in a game this season. He leads the ACC with 12 pass break-ups this season. It’s the second time Austin has been honored by the conference. He was selected the ACC’s specialist of the week last year following his touchdown in the win against Florida State

Georgia Tech (7-4, 4-4) will play at Georgia (7-4, 4-4 SEC) on Saturday.
